Dr Marc Stierand

Director & Associate Professor

Dr. Marc Stierand is an Associate Professor of Service Management and the Founding Director of the Institute of Business Creativity (IBC) at EHL. His research focuses on managerial and organizational cognition and management education and development, with a particular interest in personal and team creativity, intuition, and talent.

Dr. Stierand has authored several papers in diverse outlets, including Management Learning, the Journal of Creative Behavior, Creativity and Innovation Management, the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and the Journal of Management Inquiry. He wrote the first entry on culinary creativity for Elsevier’s Encyclopedia of Creativity and is a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Management Inquiry and the Tourism Review.

He is also the current Plenary Co-Chair of the Research Methods and Research Practice Special Interest Group (RM&RP SIG), European Academy of Management (EURAM), and a longstanding steering committee member of the Research Methods Special Interest Group (RM SIG), British Academy of Management (BAM), UK.

Mr Ian Millar

Manager & Senior Lecturer

Mr Ian Millar is a Senior Lecturer in Information Technology and Manager of the Institute of Business Creativity (IBC) both at the École hôtelière de Lausanne. His research focuses on hospitality information technology, specifically in the area of AI technology, robotics and the technological future the hospitality industry is facing.

Mr Millar is responsible for the Student Business Projects (SBP) through which external companies mandate the final year bachelor students to consult on a given project.

Ian Millar frequently speaks about the latest hospitality IT trends at industry and corporate events and is an active member of HFTP, the world’s largest association of hospitality technology and financial professionals. He regularly advises hotel companies on their technology challenges and needs, and assists technology start-ups with their product development and hospitality market penetration.

Mr Millar is on a Vice-Chair Advisory Council at HITEC Europe. He serves on the Advisory Board at GRIF – Global Restaurant Investment Forum. He is a mentor at Metro Accelerator powered by Techstars. Mr Millar is a 2020 Editor In Chief of Hotel yearbook Technology Edition.

He also serves as an advisor for Hotelhero and Kitro start-ups.

Ms Megane Miralles

Research Associate

Ms Miralles is a Research Associate at the IBC and a doctoral student at the University of Strathclyde Business School (UK). Her research focuses on strategizing in extreme and traumatic contexts.

Together with the Director, Ms Miralles is designing research projects, collects and analyses both qualitative and quantitative data, and is in charge of project management related to all research matters of the IBC.

In collaboration with industry and academic partners, she prepares research outputs to the industry and academic papers.

IBC_Kazakova_Anastasia

Ms Anastasia Kazakova

Project Coordinator

Ms Kazakova is a Project Coordinator at the IBC. Her research focuses on current trends in the hospitality and food and beverage industries, with a particular interest in Michelin-starred restaurants, plant-based initiatives and sustainable business practices around the world.

Ms Kazakova is in charge of event coordination and organization of Executive Education workshops and trainings. She is involved with offline and online marketing of the Institute, as well as graphic and visual design.
